Here is an simple example problem to calculate efficiency:

A cyclist puts in 400 joules of work and the bicycle churns out 350 joules of work. Calculate the efficiency
Work input = 400 joules
Work output = 350 joules

Formula to calculate efficiency = work output / work input * 100

=  350 / 400 * 100
= 87.5%

Hence, the efficiency is found to be 87.5%
